Infrared Laser

Dr. Tigran uses an infrared laser that encompasses four specific wavelengths of light known to affect certain targets within soft tissue. At the most refined level, Dr. Tigran targets the Mitochondria which are intensely stimulated by infrared laser exposure. Dr. Tigran's laser has the power to penetrate upwards of 10-12cm into the body giving us access to the key areas we treat in the head and neck region. We all have trillions of Mitochondria, and they are the source of all life energy, sort of the battery packs for cells to live and thrive. The laser can reach Mitochondria within the cells. Increased Mitochondrial activity is vital to healing any damaged tissue, as it increases energy available for all functions related to regeneration. Also, the wavelengths that are used are known to increase micro-circulation within tissues. In addition, the laser stimulates increased immune function. The net effect is profound, including reduction in pain and eradication of trigger points within muscles along with rapidly increased total healing of chronically inflamed and damaged soft tissues including ligaments, tendons, muscles, fascia, bone, cartilage, vasculature, nerves, and lymphatics.

Osstell IDx unit at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

Osstell IDx

Today we want a nice smile and we want it sooner rather than later. More and more patients are asking for early and immediate loading of their implants and requests for shorter treatment times along with a growing number of risk patients places greater demands on dentists and the available technology.

There is an increasing need to evaluate implant stability and osseointegration that cannot be achieved using traditional methods such as torque and percussion tests. It requires a more advanced diagnostics tool. This is where Osstell IDx comes in to help.

The Osstell IDx will help us to objectively determine implant stability and to assess the progress of osseointegration – without jeopardizing the healing process. It is a fast and non-invasive system that will provide the accurate and objective information needed to proceed with confidence

Thank you collage for Dr. Eric Zaremski for creating a custom ozone water generator for A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

Ozone Water Generator

Thank you Dr. Eric Zaremski for creating a custom ozone water generator for A Smiling Heart Dentistry.

Ozonated Water is one of the most wonderful substances known to mankind. The process of ozonating water can produce two results:

1. Pure water free of bacteria, viruses, spores, parasites, and chemicals. Wonderful for drinking, when you feel like you are getting sick. We will be using it for dental chair water lines as well, to have a 99% bacteria-free atmosphere.

2. If done properly, ozonated water can actually 'hold' ozone for a short period of time. With the proper use of a high purity, high output (medical) ozone generator, and if the ozone is bubbled through the water long enough, this ozonated water can contain significant levels of ozone bonded to the water. This ozonated water, is beyond pure. Full of ozone and oxygen, this ozonated water is used topically as a healing and antibacterial/antifungal agent, on burns, scrapes, bruises, in dentistry, surgery, and many other applications. If you drink this water, you are actually drinking 'ozone'.

Two images showing the difference between traditional black and white x-rays and digital colored x-rays from A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

The Benefits and Differences of Dental X-rays

Traditional X-Rays Require

•  A larger amount of radiation in order to deliver diagnostic x-rays.
•  Passport sized pictures that cannot be adjusted.
•  More time to develop

Two images of a patient's dental implants using a traditional x-ray and a digital x-ray to show the difference between them from A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

Digital X-Rays

•  Have instantaneous images of most of the digital x-rays.
•  Can be enlarged on the screen and manipulated using a variety computer programs in order to discern very slight differences in the gray scale.

How 3D X-Rays help Dentists

Our Cone beam imaging machine has the ability to take 3D imaging at a dose lower than a 2D Panoramic x-ray. It is an amazing advancement, as a 3D image provides hundreds of times more information than a panoramic x-ray and all this with half the dose of radiation.

We can utilize the 3D x-ray with its superb software to plan very precise placement of implants, and detect where the nerves are during wisdom teeth extractions.

A digital x-ray image machine called Velscope, this device allows dentists to find oral cancer more efficiently at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WAA picture showing how the Velscope identifies oral cancer more efficiently then the naked eye does at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

Why is it Important to screen For Oral Cancer?

There is one patient every hour dying of oral cancer in North America. In our office, we regularly screen for Oral and head and neck abnormalities.

What Technology Helps With the Screening?

We utilize the World's #1 Adjunctive Examination Device, Velscope. This powerful device detects noninvasively in 2-3 minutes mucosal abnormalities that might be pre-cancerous or cancerous in nature, which with the naked eye might be very difficult to discern without invasive biopsy.

An Intra-oral Camera is a device used to detect cavities at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

What is An Intra-oral Camera?

Intraoral cameras are a very useful tool mainly to inform the patient visually what is going on in their mouths. We have invested in 2 of the highly advanced diagnostic cameras that allow you to see what we see inside your mouth.

What are they Used For?

One of them detects cavities and shows them in blue color. The other detects cavities between teeth without the use of x-rays.

Cavities on a tooth colored blue by the Intra-oral Camera making cavity detection more efficient for dentists at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA
The same cavity infected tooth shown to the naked eye without the blue markings from the Intra-Oral Camera at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

We use an Intra-Oral Camera with diagnostic quality, and that is tremendously less invasive compared to legacy and contemporary techniques utilizing conventional cameras, without the need for manipulation instrumentation and intra-oral mirrors.

Technology That Reduces the Need For X-rays,
While Using Less Radiation

CariVu™ is a revolutionary product similar to an intraoral camera but with the ability to detect cavities between teeth, without using x-rays. In essence, it minimizes the need for the x-rays while simultaneously helping you see where the cavities are on screen.

T-Scan® Novus

Dr. Tigran has just returned from a 6 day cutting edge conference in Las Vegas, where he learned latest techniques for creating Hollywood smiles.

He also brought life-changing new technologies with him. One of them is Tekscan: Dentistry's only Digital Occlusal Analysis System.

T-Scan® provides dynamic occlusal measurement - revealing the level and timing of force on individual teeth and the occlusal stability of the overall bite - bringing articulating paper marks to life.

Rendering of how the E4D System works at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

E4D

Dr. Tigran will travel to Texas to learn about where the future of dentistry is going and advance the office further into the 21st century. The other team members will have additional training from the E4D company. We are now the proud owner of the E4D crown milling machine!

The E4D machine enables us to eliminate impressions, so no need for uncomfortable impression materials in your mouth. An even larger advantage is the elimination of the temporary crown AND the return visit for the permanent crown. We value your comfort, time and convenience. Temporary crowns can break or come loose while you wait weeks for your permanent crown. You will now be able to get your crown on the same day in one single visit! Rather than relying on a lab to make your crown to your specifications, your crown now involves only two people: your dentist and you.

How does this work?

With the E4D System, we can obtain clean, fast digital impressions of your tooth in a few minutes using a laser scanner. This laser scanning technology is not only precise when capturing all the details of your tooth, but it is also as safe as the check-out scanner at the grocery store. Your impression is saved and used to design your new tooth with the special software.

We "create" your custom crown so that it is a personalized fit using the computer-based design center. From there, the information is transferred to the in-office milling unit, where your crown is made. You can even watch it being made. On the same day, your new crown is permanently placed in your mouth!

Will my insurance cover this?

This is the same crown you would get if you waited the traditional 2-4 weeks. Now, you can get it made directly in our office on the same day.

Collage of Dr. Tigran working with patients while using Platelet Rich Fibrin at A Smiling Heart Dentistry in Bellevue, WA

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

PRF is a second-generation PRP where autologous platelets and leukocytes are present in a complex fibrin matrix to accelerate the healing of soft and hard tissue. Platelets contain growth factors and the fibrin mesh holds these important growth factors and releases them over time, and that can accelerate the wound healing process.

These products, processed from your own blood are then immediately placed into the surgical site. The scientifically proven positive effects of this procedure include better and faster soft tissue (gums) and hard tissue (bone) healing and regeneration. Because the healing occurs faster than usual, there is less chance of infection, dry socket, failed implants or failed grafting. These procedures are especially helpful to those who otherwise might have impaired healing such as diabetics, smokers, and others with chronic or acute conditions which can interfere with healing.

The Individual Patient (IP) Appliance: Computerized Brace

The World's most efficient and effective way to straighten teeth!

Your braces will be individually designed for the most effective and fastest treatment. With the aid of a computer, Dr. Tigran diagnoses your teeth, bone structure, and facial profile to develop your treatment plan and customize your brackets.

Dr. Tigran uses cutting edge orthodontic technology to create the optimal treatment plan for you. He analyzes every detail before the case starts, to interpret any potential problems before they happen. Some of the technologies used include digital cephalometric analysis, model measuring, visual treatment objectives and over 150 treatment plan templates.

Digital Diagnostic Imagery

We utilize one of the most advanced digital x-rays, keeping radiation to a minimum while at the same time giving cutting edge diagnostics.

Simplant Software

Simplant Software converts CAT scanned images into 3D for diagnostic purposes as well as guided surgery for precise implant placement.

Dental Implants

We use the Cadillac of the implants. These implants utilize the technology of platform switching to keep bone loss to a minimum around the implants. This will enhance the natural look of the gums around the implant and retain the stability by keeping the bone surrounding it.

Rotary Nickel-Titanium Instrumentation

This instrumentation assists in efficient and conservative instrumentation of the root canals. Hand instrumentation with stainless steel files can cut root structure very aggressively.

Root ZX

Root ZX gives us extremely precise lengths of the roots, while keeping the need of x-rays to the minimum.

Eccovision Acoustic Pharyngometer & Rhinometer

Eccovision Acoustic Pharyngometer & Rhinometer

The Eccovision device uses acoustic reflection technology to accurately map out the size, structure and collapsibility of the oral and nasal airway. The Eccovision is widely used in ENT, Orthodontic and Sleep Disorders Dentistry practices.

Orthodontists can use the device to examine the health of the airway before, during and after treatment. It is well documented that a compromised nasal airway is a cause of mouth breathing which is a primary cause behind facial growth and orthodontic problems. It is critical to have accurate airway records and ability to recognize these obstructions.

Sleep Disorders Dentists use the Pharyngometer to screen patients prior to diagnosis. A narrow airway reading on the Pharyngometer correlates to higher Apnea Hypopnea Indices once the person is diagnosed. After diagnosis the pharyngometer helps to show us how the airway changes in repsonse to mandibular advancement. It has been concluded that the pharyngometer was accurate in ruling out patients who would not benefit from oral appliances 95% of the time.

Data from Pharyngometer & Rhinometer tests is displayed on an easy-to-read graph.
