Dental Bridges

Rendering of jaw with dental bridgeDental Bridges places a fake tooth in the place of a lost tooth. When our children loose a tooth we have cause to celebrate the special event. When grownups lose a tooth, there is generally panic and concern. The element we don't share with our children is knowledge that an additional tooth is ascending. We hope our patients have many years of life to go, and we want you to be able to chew and speak naturally for those years.

What is a Dental Bridge?

Dental bridges are fake teeth that are anchored onto the neighboring teeth providing a substitute for one or even several lost teeth. We offer different materials to create one of two different styles of bridge, fixed or removable. By filling the empty span where a tooth is missing, our dentists Drs. Tigran, Furca, and Smith are able to help prevent other issues. These issues include:
•  Teeth shifting, effecting your bite and jaw alignment.
•  Decay tends to build up around the remaining teeth in the gap.
•  The shape of your face can change with time. Missing teeth cause bone atrophy, giving you an older appearance.

Do I want a Fixed Bridge Or a Removable Bridge?

There are two styles of dental bridges available - fixed and removable - in a variety of materials. The removable dental bridge is, as it sounds, removable, similar to a denture. Some of our patients prefer this because you can take it out, brush your teeth, clean it thoroughly and put it back in. Fixed dental bridges, on the other hand, are permanent. It is anchored into place using two strong teeth and filling the gap with a dental crown. Some patients have bought special floss or even an irrigator for cleaning this fixed device.
